ABOUT ME
I’m Angus Purdy, a devoted spouse to my wife, and a father of three amazing kids. A Nashville resident, Vanderbilt graduate, and proud member of the working class. I’m currently employed at Little Hats Italian Market in Hillsboro Village where I engage with neighbors and community members on a daily basis.
My interest in running for Congress is to serve my constituents. I do not have loyalties to either political party and therefore am running as an independent. I believe in transparency from elected officials. Our campaign refuses to take any donations from corporations or special interest groups. I will never serve the interests of lobbyists, I will always serve the people.
My priorities lie in supporting rural hospitals, workers’ rights, public education, feeding families, protecting social security and more generally protecting the interests of hard working Tennesseans.
I grew up on a small farm in Spring Hill, TN. While I have lived in Nashville for many years, I have deep connections to rural Tennessee that I believe particularly qualify me to serve such a large district spanning urban, suburban, and rural communities.
TAX THE WEALTHY
The burden of taxes disproportionately impacts the working class. We need to return to tax rates that force the ultra wealthy to pay their fair share.
They have resulted in unforgivable loss of life and an increased burden on cost of living for working class Americans. It is long past time to limit executive privilege and put declarations of war and military spending back in the hands of Congress. Executive privilege is out of control.
Both major parties have abused it and it is past time to reign in this
constitutional overstep.

I am running a campaign based on transparency in government. The DOJ's "anti-weaponization" fund is a crooked misuse of taxpayer dollars. We need to hold elected officials of all parties criminally liable for any corruption.
No child dreams of lining the pockets of billionaires. It's time we demand to be paid fairly for our labor. Farm subsidies, universal basic income, reopening
and funding rural hospitals, investments in public education, rent control, and affordable childcare are just
the beginning.
